|Pre-Christmas Graduation Gift : New Livelihood Skills for 355|
December 23, 2016 (Friday) – It was a holiday celebration for 355 individuals of various ages whose best gift was learning new skills that can help them start a business or become more employable.
The Quezon City Government’s Social Services Development Department (SSDD) Vocational Development Division held its 135th SSDD Manpower Barangay Based Skills Training Program (MBBSTP) Mass Graduation Ceremony at the Quezon City Hall Lobby.
The program provided 3-month vocational training on the following useful courses: Food and Beverage Services, Bread and Pastry Production, Dressmaking, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Cosmetology, Home Care Provider, Productivity Skills and Capability Building (PSCB) Training, Hilot Wellness and Massage Course, and Housekeeping. This program aims to provide and expand people’s opportunity to access a wide variety of training courses and to enhance their skills, competitiveness, efficiency, and productivity in the labor market.
One graduate of Bread and Pastry Production is Jenny Gallos, 54 years of age. Her passion for baking made her grab the opportunity to take the bread and pastry course. It was a chance to start anew in another career, a leap forward to have a bakeshop of her own. Jenny shows that age is never a barrier to attaining new goals in life.
