|Ten more Drug Free Barangays declared in QC|
February 6, 2017 (Monday) – Ten (10) more Quezon City barangays were declared drug-free: Maharlika, Phil-Am, Paligsahan, Laging Handa, Teacher’s Village East, Novaliches Proper, Capri, Greater Lagro, Greater Fairview and New Era. Plaques of Recognition were awarded by QC Mayor Herbert M. Bautista during the flag raising ceremony at the Quezon City Hall. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) declared the 10 barangays compliant with the parameters set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) and the QC Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (QCAADAC).
Last January 16, 2017, 9 barangays in Quezon City including: Brgys. Damar and West Triangle of District 1, Brgys. Libis, Blue Ridge B, Mangga, Quirino 3B (Claro) of District 3, and Brgys. Kalusugan, Valencia and Horseshoe of District 4 were recognized as Drug Free Barangays.
This brings the total number of nineteen (19) barangays declared drug-free in Quezon City. QC has been consistent with its efforts to establish the city as being drug-free with continous programs on preventive education, treatment and rehabilitation. To maintain the drug-free barangays, periodic assessment will be conducted by the QC Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the QCPD to the barangay to track their drug-free status.
