QC Inaugurates New School Buildings and Day-Care Centers for May 2018

In time for the opening of classes, Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista recently inaugurated several infrastructure projects aimed to improve QC’s
education services delivery. For the first half of 2018, QC inaugurated 9 School buildings and 2 day-care centers.

The facilities that were inaugurated for the month of May were the Duyan Duyan Day-care Center (Dist. 3); Arugaan Day-care Center (Dist. 4); San Francisco
High school with 12 classrooms and 6 laboratories and Ernesto Rondon High School with 6 classrooms with 2 laboratories in Dist. 1; Batasan National High
School with 12 classrooms and 6 laboratories and Pres. Corazon Aquino Elementary School with 17 classrooms with 2 laboratories in Dist. 2; Fairview
Elementary School, West Fairview High School and North Fairview High School with 20 classrooms and 6 laboratories in Dist. 5; and the Ismael Mathay Sr. High School with 16 classrooms with 2 laboratories and New Era High School with 12 classrooms in Dist. 6.

From 2010 to 2017, Quezon City has been able to construct 40 new school buildings, adding 668 classrooms to accommodate the growing student
population. With the additional facilities, QC has been consistent with its education program of providing adequate education opportunities for more than
400,000 students. Mayor Bautista renewed his advocacy for additional funding and support for facilities, capacity-building, and equipment for QC’s public
education system, with the intention of maintaining the city’s 99.74% literacy rate.

During the inaugurations, the Department of Education expressed its gratitude to Quezon City for being an active partner in delivering quality, accessible, and relevant basic education for its constituencies.

For 2018, QC has bidded out 7 new construction projects in the following schools: Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma High School and Lupang Pangako Elementary School in Brgy. Payatas (Dist. 2); Teodoro Alonzo Elementary School in Brgy. Marilag (Dist. 3); Manuel A. Roxas High School in Brgy. Paligsahan (Dist. 4); and Damong Maliit Elementary School in Brgy. Nagkaisang Nayon and San Bartolome High School in Brgy. San Bartolome (Dist. 5).
