Mayor Joy Belmonte joins global leaders at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or COP28 Press Conference in New York on Tuesday.

COP 28, set to take place on November 30 to December 12, 2023, will bring together subnational leaders, local chief executives, governors, and non-governmental organizations, acknowledging their significant role in achieving national government targets for carbon emission reduction and enhancing the preparedness and resilience of their cities.

COP 28 will also serve as a platform for cities to voice out the support and assistance they need to fight climate crisis.

The press conference was led by COP28 President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UN Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions founder of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies Michael R. Bloomberg, and Global Ambassador of the Global Covenant of Mayors, C40 Cities Vice Chair of the Steering Committee and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

Other attendees include Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay, Lord Mayor of Hobart Anna Reynolds, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Simon Stiell , Vice-President of the European Commission Maros Sefcovic, Buenos Aires Mayor Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, Kloto I Mayor Yawo Winny Dogbatse, Municipal Commissioner & Administrator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Iqbal Singh Chahal, Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie, Despenaderos Mayor Carolina Basualdo, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, and Global Ambassador of the Global Covenant of Mayors Gregor Robertson.
