Updates on Maginhawa Street (from Magiting to Masinsinan) SPARK Project

As the project comes to its final weeks during this month of February, please be informed of the following developments as agreed during the recent consultations with stakeholders:

1. The active mobility lane will now use traffic cones in lieu of plant box barriers. These cones will be deployed daily from 7:00PM to 9:00AM of the following morning. During these hours, overnight parking and on-street parking will remain prohibited.

2. Only the pocket parklets adjacent to the Teachers Village East Barangay Hall will remain, as the rest will be removed.

3. Starting 12:00NN of February 9, 2025 (Sunday), Maginhawa Street from Magiting to Masinsinan will revert to the two-way traffic scheme.

We thank everyone for their participation and observance of the Tactical Urbanism changes brought about by the SPARK Project along this stretch of road. Valuable data has been generated suggesting that the conversion of motor-vehicle lanes to active mobility lanes and social spaces for pedestrians and cyclists have led to higher foot traffic and less vehicle congestion at certain times and on certain days.
