What is the Trash to Cashback Program of Quezon City?
The Trash to Cashback Program, which was launched by the Quezon City Government on March 2021, is part of the city’s circular economy initiative that provides a mechanism for citizens to actively participate in the waste diversion program of the city. Implemented by the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department in partnership with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST), the project allows participants to exchange and convert their recyclable wastes and single use plastics into Environmental Points, which may be used to purchase groceries, goods and services from the bXTRA App and as payment for utility bills such as electricity, water and internet service through the Bayad App.
