Team Quezon City and some officials of the United Nations Environment Programme visited Kibera, one of Nairobi, Kenya’s alternative tourism sites, on Saturday.
They explored Nairobi’s largest slum’s culture, and immersed with the locals.
Kibera has an art school for children, and a performing arts space to develop the residents’ talents. They also organized entrepreneur groups that provided opportunities for women.
Mayor Joy Belmonte, Coun. Vito Sotto Generoso, and Kristine Lea Sy-Gaon of the QC Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) is currently in Nairobi, Kenya to attend the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) Cities and Regions Summit.
