In the beginning there was Barrio Bago-Bantay, a legal barrio created under Barrio Charter No. 2370. But after it was submitted to the Quezon City Council, it was disapproved on the grounds that areas covered were too large. Another Barrio was created, comprising areas of the present Barrio Alicia, named after Doña Alicia Quirino. This was submitted to the Quezon City Council and approved under Ordinance No. 61-4621 on January 9, 1961.
Every 9th of January is celebrated as the foundation day of Barangay Alicia, since Barrio Doña Alicia was the first barrio approved in Bago-Bantay. A couple of years later, Barrio Sto. Cristo was created, and a year after the remaining area was created as Barrio Ramon Magsaysay.
