On August 11, 1974, President Ferdinand E. Marcos appointed Geronimo Larabi as the “Teniente del Barrio”.
In 1975, Mayor Norberto Amoranto issued Executive Order No. 32 turning a “barrio” into a “barangay”, headed by Barangay Captain Ismael Jarin.
In 1986, Barangay Kaunlaran was led by Merz Lapuz, appointed by Mayor Brigido Simon, Jr. as the Officer-In-Charge, (OIC).
Later, the election of barangay officials were held, beginning with Punong Bayan Renato Agito, and the current process ensued.
