Project 6 was created as a Barangay under PD No. 86 dated December 31, 1972 and Executive Order No. 25 dated June 25, 1975 of then Mayor Norberto S. Amoranto issued pursuant to PD 557 dated September 21, 1974 declaring all barrios and citizen assemblies in the Philippines as barangays.
Low-cost Housing Project 6 was formally opened in 1957, with an estimated original population of around 31,000.
