Description

PAISD is the official information arm of the Quezon City Government. The Department aims to keep constituents well-informed about the plans and programs of the city government, and to inspire their support and participation in city-building.

Mission

To provide right, timely, effective and relevant information that will guide residents in making well-informed decisions.

Vision

To foster an informed citizenry that is empowered to make fact-based and data-driven decisions, thereby enhancing their quality of life and capacitating them to effectively contribute to city and nation-building.

Service Pledge

The Department commits to serve as the primary source of credible, relevant, and accurate information on the affairs of the city government.

It pledges to advocate the city government’s official position on issues and concerns, while informing and educating the citizenry on matters that affect their welfare and well-being.

INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND PUBLICATION 

PAISD offers a comprehensive range of services aimed at effectively disseminating content across various official channels. To ensure accurate and timely distribution of information, the Department oversees and complements the overall information management and publication efforts of the city government: from producing various Information, Education, and Communication materials including audio-visual presentations;  crafting and implementing communication plans and campaigns; drafting press statements and advisories; hosting press conferences; media monitoring; and publishing newsletters.

EVENT COVERAGE AND LIVESTREAMING

The Department is committed to deliver real-time coverage of local events to keep citizens informed about the news and developments in the city. Traditional and new media, including platforms such as Facebook, Zoom, and YouTube, are also utilized to broadcast important programs, enabling maximum citizen engagement and participation.

MEDIA AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Department cultivates a strong relationship with members of the media and other government agencies to ensure that information pertaining to local events, programs, and policies are communicated as accurately and widely as possible. 

FEEDBACK MANAGEMENT

All reports and feedback received from the public through the city’s official social media accounts and website are collated and managed by PAISD. As part of its mandate, the Department systematically collects and documents these messages and comments for referral to concerned offices to facilitate timely and effective response and action. 

Programs


USAPANG QC 

Usapang QC is a bi-monthly infotainment show produced by PAISD. It connects residents with subject matter experts and features beneficiaries of city programs through livestreaming since July 2022. From showcasing micro-entrepreneurs to advocating inclusivity and sustainability, the show promotes community empowerment and civic engagement.

QC ALAM MO BA?

QC Alam Mo Ba is a type of Public Service Announcement featuring city government-led services. Step-by-step guides are carefully discussed through short videos. It also provides residents with vital information on pressing issues that need to be explained and elaborated.

COMPELLING STORYTELLING

Special Report, Kwentong QC, and Kwentong QC Shorts are short-form videos that feature stories of events, places, and services of the city government and its QCitizens. These visual offerings aim to highlight unique and inspiring stories that promote a safe, inclusive, and progressive city.

#ExploreQC

Launched in February 2023 To bolster tourism in Quezon City and ignite economic revitalization, this weekly feature on the city’s official TikTok and Facebook pages highlights local tourist destinations, restaurants, parks, galleries, and other attractions.

#ExploreQC also stands as a symbol of solidarity with local businesses navigating the aftermath of the pandemic, providing them with support and visibility as the economy goes through recovery. 

QC SOCIAL MEDIA HELP DESK

The Quezon City Social Media Moderators serve as a pivotal link between netizens and the local government, promptly addressing inquiries and directing complaints to relevant departments, fostering transparent and accessible communication channels. Its dedicated team acts as a reliable bridge, ensuring citizens’ voices are heard and concerns are attended to.

HEALTHY QC

In support of the city’s Health Department, PAISD co-produces “Healthy QC,” a series of videos that provide tips and information addressing timely health-related concerns of the community. The goal is to ensure every QCitizen is aware of the dangers posed by various health threats and to keep them safe and well through proper prevention and/or medication.

BUSY QC 

BUSY QC is a weekly rundown of major activities. Produced in a news format, Busy QC highlights the city’s progress, events, and local government activities that can directly affect and benefit every QCitizen.

Chinese New Year 2024 Press Conference 

The Quezon City Government is one in celebrating different cultures as part of its built heritage. The Department facilitated a press conference on its annual celebration of the Chinese New Year in Banawe, dubbed the city’s Chinatown. Around 80 practitioners from various mass media entities covered the event showing the city’s efforts to strengthen appreciation of the Filipino-Chinese community.

Pertussis and Calorie-labeling Policy Press Conference 

The QCitizens’ health remains a priority of the City Government, mirrored in evidence-based programs and policies. The Department held a joint press conference on two pressing health-related issues— the city’s rising cases of Pertussis and the enactment of the Calorie Labeling Ordinance. Officials shared pertinent information with about 60 representatives from different media platforms, vital to citizen empowerment and transparency.

Communication Trainings

In line with its commitment to keep QCitizens well informed, PAISD strengthens its workforce through the regular conduct of workshops led by experts in the field of media and communications.

In 2023, PAISD hosted training workshops on Storytelling with National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee and acclaimed writer Jerry Gracio; Photojournalism with Fernando ‘Jun’ Sepe Jr.; and Cinematography and Drone Shooting with Jimmy Dasal. Meanwhile, in 2024, the department organized a two-part training focusing on Political Communications, which included Speechwriting with Ms. Maria Carmen ‘Mai’ Mislang and Message Crafting with Mr. Yolando ‘Yol’ Jamendang.

This was followed by a series of media literacy workshops for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials in collaboration with the Bayan Mo, Ipatrol Mo Team of ABS-CBN.
