ABOUT QCFD

Vision
A modern fire service fully – capable of ensuring a fire-safe nation by 2034

Mission
We commit to prevent and suppress destructive fires; investigate its causes; enforce Fire Code and other related laws; respond to man-made and natural disasters and other emergencies.

Firefighters are the silent heroes of the community because they save lives and properties and take their active role as frontlines during this COVID-19 pandemic scenario. In every response they do, they risk their lives. Aside from responding to all kinds of emergencies and disaster calls, the BFP also performs its mandates in teaching the community about safety to mitigate and prepare them for the hazards present in their communities.

The challenge of Covid-19 during these times put the Quezon City Fire District’s resiliency and preparedness to test. Meeting the expectations of the public through these challenging times will not hinder the performance of QCFD in reaching the people. The unanticipated risk brought by the pandemic stirred up the virtue of our District Fire Director to turn a crisis into an opportunity to improve and innovate new techniques.

Continuing to implement innovative programs had led the organization to sustain its progress through the leadership of the District Fire Director SSUPT GARY R ALTO, DSC. This approach changes the game by dealing with the unfamiliar COVID-19 effectively by administering an unfamiliar approach. The fresh concept and leadership made an impact on each personnel and influenced them to have self-development and further improve the fire stations’ facilities. QCFD also successfully launched a studio for video creation of Brigada Eskwela sa Bahay using social media accounts (“Bfp-Ncr Fire District 5 Quezon City” FB Page and “Quezon City Fire District” youtube Channel) as a platform for educating and providing relevant information to the public. The said program also established an online application for new Fire Safety Inspection Certificates and Fire Safety Evaluation Certificates and Renewal for a more accessible and easier transaction. As social media is the most effective means of communication nowadays, the QCFD takes its advantage to deliver safety lectures to the community. Furthermore, Mobile Swabbing/Testing Facilities also personally touched the people in the barangay level. With this, back to back approach of QCFD both accessible physically and through social media aims to strengthen the bond between Firefighters and the Citizens.

PROGRAMS and PROJECTS

As Quezon City Fire District established innovative approach when the pandemic began, various programs were also created to cope with the new normal. One of them is the “Brigada Eskwela sa Bahay” which aims to educate the community about fire safety and provide relevant information thru social media platform. Such technique opened new opportunity for firefighters to spread awareness and knowledge about fire prevention, fire escape and other safety tips to different ages.

Through this, fire safety videos such as “How to use Fire Extinguisher”, “What to Do in Case of Fire”, and others are made available on line for a larger scope of audience in just one click, while staying in the comfort of their home.
