ABOUT US

Description

The Sustainable Development Affairs Officer (SDAO) was created by virtue of QC Executive Order 35 series of 2019, signed last October 2019, becoming the first LGU to establish a unit that recognizes and promotes the importance of realizing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at a local level.

Mission

We inspire thought leaders and partners of the Quezon City Government to continuously improve projects and programs to address the Global Goals by:

  • Identifying issues and providing solutions with a needs-based approach.
  • Engaging stakeholders and building synergy across partners.
  • Working smart to be effective and efficient in programs execution.

Vision

Guided by experts and partners from industry and the Sustainable Development Goals, we model progressive programs for the Quezon City Government to institutionalize data-driven and empowering approaches for sustainable development.

Legal Basis

Executive Order 35, series of 2019: Creating the Position of the Sustainable Development Projects Officer Under the Office of the City Mayor, Quezon City

Service Pledge:

To promote the achievement of the  Global Goals through progressive programs for Quezon City in partnership with local and international bodies.

FUNCTIONS

  • SDAU aims to align the programs of the Quezon City Government to the Global Goals by encouraging innovative solutions and investing in synergies that necessitate coordination, collaboration and engagement with relevant authorities and communities.
  • SDAU promotes the use of international standards like establishing baselines and identifying and using internationally accepted metrics/measures.
  • Promotes that all QC departments champion the goals set by the United Nations, NEDA’s AmBisyon 2040, as well as the City’s priority agenda.
  • Upon the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, the Sustainable Development Affairs officer and his staff were designated to serve as the Secretariat of the Quezon City Food Security Task Force (QC FSTF). The QC FSTF’s “GrowQC – Kasama ka sa Pag-Unlad sa Pagkain (SDG 2), Kabuhayan (SDG 8) at Kalusugan (SDG 3)” food security program was created to take on the challenge of increased hunger, deteriorating health & wellness, and loss of livelihood brought about by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
