Patuloy ang konstruksyon ng mga detention basin sa G. Araneta Avenue bilang bahagi ng flood mitigation project ng lokal na pamahalaan alinsunod sa Drainage Masterplan ng lungsod. Layon ng proyekto na mabawasan ang pagbaha sa mga lugar na sakop ng San Juan River Catchment Area.

Ang flood volume reduction ay batay sa nakasaad sa Drainage Master Plan (DMP) ng lungsod.
Sa kabuuan, ang tatlong detention basin ay may kapasidad na 5,140 cubic meters o mahigit 5 milyong litro ng tubig-ulan, na makakatulong sa pagpapalakas ng flood control at drainage infrastructure sa Quezon City.
