The Public Employment Service Office – Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) participated in the General Membership Meeting of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Quezon City (PCCI-QC), with the theme “Fostering Growth: Safeguarding our Workers and Promoting a Diverse, Empowered Workforce”.
Under its new president, Atty. Arnel Mateo, the organization has been actively participating in several key campaigns of the city, advocating not only the interests of its member companies but also those of the communities where these companies operate.
Aside from inducting new members, the event aimed to tackle the issue of child labor and to advocate for decent jobs and better and fair policies, rules, and regulations for both the businesses and the workforce.
During the networking session, member companies expressed their keen interest in supporting Mayor Joy Belmonte’s ZERO Child Labor Campaign. The private sector plays an important role in ensuring that no child will be engaged in hazardous work, particularly in business establishments.
Ms. Daphne DG Culanag, Project Director of World Vision’s Project ACE and Matthew R. Valdeavilla, Head of the PESO CLPEP served as resource speakers during the event.
As one of the most active local chambers under the umbrella of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the PESO CLPEP wishes to partner with the organization to cascade the Zero Child Labor campaign to their counterparts in different regions and at the national level.
With a diverse and expanding membership representing various sectors, PCCI-QC serves as a vital resource for information, a staunch supporter of economic growth, and an active partner of the city for many of its endeavors.
