The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and World Bank have recognized Mayor Joy Belmonte as a “Green City Champion” for her leadership and commitment towards transformative climate action.
IFC Country Manager Jean-Marc Arbogast and Chief Industry Specialist Prashant Kapoor gave the certificate of recognition to Mayor Joy this afternoon in QC Hall.
During their visit, IFC and the World Bank presented to Team QC the APEX (Advanced Practices for Environmental Excellence in Cities) Green Investments Report for Quezon City. APEX is a climate action planning tool that cities can use to evaluate priority actions in terms of its greenhouse gas savings, indicative costing, possible funding sources, and potential investments.
They also discussed the financing options that the city can adopt to achieve its climate action targets in the coming years.
Also present in the meeting are World Bank Urban Sector Leader Madhu Raghunath, IFC Senior Country Officer Thuy Bui, City Administrator Mike Alimurung, Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD) head Andrea Villaroman, and Investment Affairs Office Chief Jay Gatmaitan.
