Quezon City's success in its fight against the COVID-19 epidemic is largely due to its strong strategy of Trace, Isolate, and Treat. The city has beefed up its contact tracing and has aggressively expanded the capacity of city-owned hospitals and its innovative HOPE Quarantine Facilities. The city has also ramped up its testing capabilities by complementing rapid tests with the gold standard PCR test, partnering with private labs to ensure faster results and establishing multiple mobile community testing units and sites in all districts.
This has resulted in a more favorable outcome for the city, as compared to NCR. Based on CESU data from May 22 to July 10, 2020, the number of recovered cases in QC had already exceeded the number of active cases from May 26 onwards. In contrast, NCR's number of recovered cases has been consistently lower than the number of active cases.
