Statement of the Quezon City Local Government

Statement of the Quezon City Local Government

In their March 23 article, Manila Bulletin Lifestyle apologized and corrected erroneously released information about the quantity and cost of Quezon City food packs.

Quezon City food packs DO NOT cost P2,500 per pack. We have earmarked at least 1 Billion pesos in food assistance to feed an initial 400,000 families for the entire 4-week quarantine period. After consultation with the Barangay officials, we increased the target to 500,000 families.

As of March 24, over 379,000 food packs have already been distributed by the Local Government of Quezon City. This includes food packs distributed by barangay officials. The contents of which may vary depending on the barangay. We will continue to distribute food packs to families each week of this quarantine period.

We acknowledge this has been a very difficult time for everyone, especially the poorest. Although we have allocated over 1 billion pesos already, we won’t stop there in helping our citizens. Rest assured that we are working tirelessly to help as many as we can.

We thank our frontliners and volunteers who are risking their lives everyday to deliver basic services. We also ask for the cooperation of every citizen to observe social distancing and practice home quarantine.

In this time of great need, we are calling everyone to work together to fight COVID-19.

Thank you.
