A total of 102 barangays, together SK officials, members and volunteers from the barangays and employees of private companies, joined this year’s massive clean-up activity.Manny Rios, head of the EPWMD's special cleaning section, said that the city’s barangays are encouraged to conduct their own clean-up activity along waterways in their areas.
The volunteers were divided into three groups: sorters, recorders and pickers. The pickers were assigned to collect residuals and recyclables. The volunteers are tasked to collect the trash, segregate them, and put them inside sacks which will be collected by trucks.
Quezon City has been an active supporter of the International Coastal Clean-Up campaign since 2008.
