QC Socialized Housing Project Attracts International Urban Planners

Quezon City’s Bistekville Housing Project has attracted students of the Housing Development Management (HDM) of Lund University in Sweden, who recently visited the city for their field study for the Urban Shelter Course: Architecture in Extreme Environments Housing in Metro Manila.

The group is composed of 16 senior architecture and engineering students from various universities in Europe and Asia and 3 technical professionals from Costa Rica. The group is headed by HDM Director Johnny Astrand, and assisted by the local NGO, TAO-Pilipinas Inc.

The group conducted a study of Bistekville 2 housing project in Barangay Kaligayahan in Novaliches and Bistekville 4 in Barangay Culiat.

City Administrator Cdr Aldrin C. Cuña welcomed the group during their visit to Quezon City Hall.

The group also attended a lecture about the QC Housing initiatives, facilitated by the Special Design Group, through City Architect Virgilio Regala, an alumnus of HDM-Lund University.

The city's housing project has received numerous local and international recognition including the Global Human Settlement Model of Community Award during the 2018 Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2018), held at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
