169 More Classrooms Ready for Incoming QC Students


The Quezon City public school system opens the new school year with the addition of 169 new classrooms resulting from the newly inaugurated school buildings, which are in the following campuses:

  • Tandang Sora Senior High School in barangay Tandang Sora – 32 classrooms
  • GSIS Elementary School in barangay Sangandaan – 20 classrooms
  • Nagkaisang Nayon Senior High School in barangay NagKaisang Nayon - 26 classrooms
  • Leandro Locsin Senior High School in barangay Kaligayahan – 16 classrooms
  • Lamberto Avella Senior High School in barangay Pasong Tamo – 32 classrooms
  • San Agustin Elementary School in barangay San Augustin – 24 classrooms
  • Emilio Jacinto High School in barangay Talipapa – 11 classrooms
  • Lagro High School in barangay Lagro – 8 classrooms

The construction of new buildings to accommodate the needs of this city with the biggest school-age population in the country has been a continuous undertaking.  Under the Administration of Mayor Herbert M. Bautista from 2010 todate in 2019, the city government has funded the construction of 55 new school buildings projects planned to produce 753 additional classrooms.  Of these, 49 projects for 657 classrooms are completed or nearing completion, with computer and science laboratories, as well as the particular needs of specialized senior high school curriculum.

More classroom facilities are expected with the completion of the following school projects within this school year:

  • Teodoro Alonzo Elementary School in Marilag – 6 classrooms
  • Batino Elementary School in Amihan – 12 classrooms
  • Manuel A. Roxas High School in between barangays Paligsahan and Laging Handa – 12 classrooms
  • Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma High School Building with Extension in Payatas – 15 classrooms
  • Quirino High School Technology Building in barangay Quirino 3-B – 11 classrooms
