The “DILG Local Legislative Award” is given every three years, corresponding to each council’s term “to recognize the exemplary performance of the Sanggunian in cities and municipalities in crafting measures that help build the foundation of meaningful local administration and development.”

The Quezon City Council has been honored for its exemplary performance on responsiveness to legislative agenda, easily accessible information on approved resolutions and ordinances, legislative tracking system, capability development trainings for the councilors and their staff, and innovations such as the "Batas QC" mobile application.The DILG cited approved measures by the City Council that are firsts in the country and were later adopted by other cities and the national government.
“Some of our codes and ordinances lauded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government are the road safety code, traffic management code, dangerous drugs code, responsible gaming ordinance, comprehensive socialized housing code, and fair market values ordinance,” Mayor-elect Joy Belmonte said in a previous interview.
She received the award, with members of the Quezon City Council during the Philippine Councilors League convention at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu, on June 19, 2019
