An Ordinance No. SP-2439, S-2015 Declaring Maginhawa Street and its adjacent streets as a Tourism District of Quezon City to be known as the Maginhawa Art and Food Hub and other purposes

Need to Know: From being a residential zone in Diliman, Quezon City, the stretch of Maginhawa has transformed over the years and is now a popular art and food destination. Due to its growing community, what originally started as a group composed of all businesses located along Maginhawa is now a group called the Maginhawa Food Community.

A community of artists also started growing within the area to showcase their art and the fusion of food and art is now promoted within the area.

In time for Quezon City’s 75th founding anniversary, last 2014, Maginhawa Street hosted the first food festival, dubbed the Quezon City Food Festival. The annual festival is celebrated every 1st Saturday of December and after three years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maginhawa Arts and Food Festival (MAFF) staged its comeback to showcase once again both long-running and new spots along Maginhawa and its adjacent streets in a celebration of art and gastronomy, symbolizing a community working to grow together, last December 2, 2023. This was organized by the Maginhawa Food Community Inc. and the Quezon City Tourism Department.

Explore Filipino creativity by visiting art galleries within Maginhawa, starting with the CXE Art and Collectibles open from Wednesdays to Sundays (2 PM to 8 PM), and commercial art gallery Project 20 open from Tuesdays to Saturdays (12 PM to 10 PM), and Sundays (4 PM to 10 PM).

To start your food trip, these established restaurants are a must-visit, starting with Fruili, which has been in the area since before its recognition as a food strip and offering Italian cuisine at an affordable price, and Rodic’s Diner. The famous  tapsilog can be found both at the end of Maginhawa Street corner Masaya Street and also in the middle of Maginhawa near Malingap Street as a go-to affordable meal for students near the area. Also of note are the Caution Hot! Spicy Noodle House, Crazy Katsu, and Provenciano.

With a growing community and ever-changing landscape, experience new spots by visiting the following: 150 Maginhawa Food Park for an all-in-one stop gastronomic experience, where Maginhawa Street was first known. For specific cravings, you can visit Gubat QC with its Kamayan-style eating of Filipino dishes for a hands-on experience; Black Betty Diner for burgers and hotdogs; check out Urban Chick for any chicken cravings; enjoy a sip during the day and night at The Sanctuary Cafe and Bar for all-day drinking; and for dessert, try Matteau for a halo-halo with a twist and all things sweet.
