Need to Know: Located beside the Tandang Sora National Shrine, the Tandang Sora Women’s Museum is a homage to the “Ina ng Katipunan” and “Ina ng Rebolusyong Pilipino”, Melchora Aquino-Ramos. Honoring her contributions and those of other iconic women, the museum stands as the country’s first-ever women’s museum.
The two-storey, bahay na bato-inspired structure features a section dedicated to Tandang Sora, a creativity corner called “Isip at Gawa”, an audio-visual space, an exhibit for rotating displays of art, and a “HERstorical Philippine Timeline” showcasing memorabilia and accounts of women’s participation in faith, leadership, peacebuilding, revolution, and culture from the time of pre-colonial period up to contemporary times.
Built as an inclusive space, the museum also has special amenities for nursing mothers and people with disabilities, which includes wheelchair-accessible ramps, a lift, and a lactation room.
