Need to Know: This gathering was triggered by a series of events beginning with the declaration of Martial Law in 1972, the assassination of the late Senator Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino, Jr. in 1983 and the dubious results of the snap election in 1986.

The world witnessed the resilience, determination and uncompromising faith of the Filipinos during the People Power Revolution in 1986.  A huge crowd assembled at the now historic intersection of Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Ortigas Avenue as an expression of the public’s loss of confidence in government.
