The Quezon City Government, through the QC Gender and Development (GAD) Council Office and the QC Jail Male Dormitory, and in cooperation with various city departments and offices, has launched the No Juan Left Behind program.
It is aimed at equipping male Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with knowledge and livelihood skills they can use to improve their welfare during and after detention.
Following the city’s No Woman Left Behind campaign, the No Juan Left Behind program provides PDLs from the male dormitory access to various services, primarily in livelihood, health, and education.
- Livelihood Skills Training
In partnership with Park Inn by Radisson, the city government conducts livelihood skills and Food and Beverage Service training for male PDLs who wish to become service providers. The training takes place in the “meeting room” with a hotel-like set-up.
Apart from training, the city government also received wood by-product donations, such as fallen trees from the Forbes Park Association, Inc., creating additional livelihood and skills opportunities, as well as promoting inclusive development for beneficiaries.
- Education and Health
In terms of education, male PDLs are given the opportunity to continue their studies and finish college. They are also entitled to Physical and Psychosocial Health Services, including free check-ups and medical consultations.
