The local government of Quezon City, led by the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department (CCESD), in partnership with the Parks Development and Administration Department (PDAD), has launched the One in a Million Tree Program, which aims to plant one million trees by the end of 2030.
Under the initiative, participants from various civic organizations, the academe, and the private sector plant different kinds of trees, including native trees such as Balitbitan, Banaba, Bani, Bitaog, Ilang-ilang, Kamuning, Molave, Narra, Siar, and Yakal; fruit-bearing trees like Antipolo, Atis, Avocado, Bignay, Catmon, Guyabano, Kalamansi, Kalumpit, Langka, Lipote, and Rambutan; and Kawayan (Bamboo).
Planting activities take place in the following locations:
- La Mesa Watershed
- Payatas Controlled Disposal Facility (PCDF)
- New Greenland Farm, Brgy. Bagong Silangan
- Vista Real Subdivision
- 15th Avenue Elementary School
- La Mesa Ecopark
- Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC)
- Quezon City Hall Lagoon
- Brgy. Sto. Cristo, Brgy. Pinagkaisahan
- Sacred Heart Village
- Quezon City University
- Brgy. San Bartolome multipurpose Hall
- Kalantiaw Elementary School
- Camp Karingal (QCPD)
- San Francisco High School
- Sto. Domingo Convent
- Parkway Village Park Brgy. Apolonio Samson
Apart from beautification, the tree-planting activity is part of the city’s commitment to enhancing and increasing green spaces within the city to lessen the effects of climate change, urban heat, and flooding.
As of October 2025, 530,973 trees have been planted in QC since 2022.
