The Quezon City Government, through the QC Department of Engineering (QCDE), has started its solarization program across all city-owned properties, transitioning to renewable energy and efficient building solutions.
Under the program, solar panels have been installed within the city hall compound and in city-owned schools and hospitals. The program targets the solarization of 25 public schools and all city hospitals.
As of February 2026, 1,314 solar panels have been placed within the city hall compound, with 107 of those in the Legislative Bldg., 180 panels in the High Rise Main Building, 289 panels in the South Treasury Bldg, 88 panels in the North Treasury Bldg, 204 panels in Civic E, 288 panels in Civic F, and 158 panels for Civic D.
For school solarization, 8 out of 25 schools have undergone solarization with 1,393 panels installed.
- Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School – 170 panels
- Carlos P. Garcia High School – 181 panels
- Commonwealth Elementary School – 170 panels
- Manuel A. Roxas High School – 170 panels
- North Fairview Elementary School – 181 panels
- Novaliches High School – 181 panels
- Quirino High School– 170 panels
- San Agustin Elementary School – 170 panels
Apart from that, all QC-owned hospitals are now fully solar-powered, with 786 solar panels: 280 at Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH), 216 at Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital (RMBGH), and 290 at Novaliches District Hospital (NDH).
The solarization program is part of the city’s commitment to climate change mitigation, environmental sustainability, and energy conservation and reduction, which aims to reduce the dependence on non-renewable energy through the use of solar energy.
