The Quezon City Government continues to strengthen its commitment to road safety and child protection through its sustained partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
The collaboration is part of the implementation of the Stay Bright Road Safety Campaign, a nationwide advocacy program aimed at educating young learners and communities on responsible and safe road use.
Since 2024, the city government has been advancing the campaign’s impact through a more focused and community-based approach, working closely with AAP and the Quezon City Barangay and Community Relations Department (BCRD) to identify high-risk areas where road safety education is most urgently needed.
The partnership further expanded in 2025 and 2026 with the participation of the Quezon City Schools Division Office and the Quezon City Education Affairs Unit. On January 23, Mayor Joy Belmonte signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the AAP.
The city mayor underscored the importance of instilling discipline and safety awareness at a young age as part of the city’s long-term development goals.
“Road safety education is a critical investment in the future of our city,” Mayor Belmonte said. “By teaching our children and communities to be responsible road users early on, we are protecting lives and building safer, more disciplined communities. Through our strong partnership with AAP and our education and barangay stakeholders, Quezon City is ensuring that road safety becomes part of everyday life.”
Under the Stay Bright program, more than 19,000 students and over 400 community participants have already received road safety education through AAP-led sessions, such as interactive lectures, demonstrations, and discussions on being smart pedestrians, understanding road signs, practicing safe crossing, and improving visibility on the road.
The city government also supported the extension of the campaign to barangay communities, where barangay enforcers, public safety officers, drivers, and staff members received practical road safety training they can apply in their daily duties.
