The Quezon City Government has received 11 nominations in the 19th University of the Philippines Los Baños – ComBroadSoc Gandingan Awards (UPLB Gandingan Awards).

This is the first time the Quezon City government, through the QC Public Affairs and Information Services Department (QC-PAISD), has submitted entries for the UP Gandingan Awards. The awarding ceremony will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the D.L. Umali Hall, UPLB.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the UP Gandingan Awards 2025 for recognizing our various communication efforts in promoting sustainability, history, gender equality, and the wonders of Quezon City, among others,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Mayor Belmonte is also a nominee under the Gandingan ng Kalikasan (host and personality category) for promoting a green, livable, and sustainable Quezon City. The other nominees are Ferds Recio and Jessica Soho of GMA Network Inc.

“As a local government unit (LGU), we adhere to the principles of good governance, particularly transparency and citizen engagement. We focus our communication efforts on providing QCitizens relevant and timely information,” Mayor Joy added.

The QC Government is among the nominees in the Major Awards Category, such as the UP ComBroadSoc’s Choice for Gandingan ng Kasaysayan for the PAISD-produced historical documentary with Prof. Xiao Chua, “QC: The Birthplace of Our Nation,” and QC’s Official Social Media Page for the Gandingan ng Kaunlaran: Most Development-Oriented Online Platform.

Moreover, three QC PAISD programs have been nominated under the General Awards – Online Category: Special Report as Most Development-Oriented Video, and both Explore QC and KwentongQC Shorts as nominees for Most Development-Oriented Online Short-Form Videos.

Meanwhile, under the Core Awards Category, four QC PAISD programs have been nominated. These include HealthyQC as Most Development-Oriented Educational Program, and the Special Report on QC’s Expanded Scholarship Program as Most Development-Oriented Youth Program.

Part of the abovementioned category are QC government’s extensive communication plans on the environment, women, and gender equality. Among the nominees are QC’s Green and Sustainable Initiatives for Most Development-Oriented Environment Program; “Babae, Tuloy ang Pag-Unlad” under Most Development-Oriented Women’s Program; and Inclusive and Gender-Sensitive QC as Most Development-Oriented Gender Transformative Program.
