The Quezon City Government is all set to serve as host city for the upcoming fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in Batasang Pambansa Complex on July 28.
More than 10,000 uniformed personnel from the Quezon City Police District will be deployed to implement safety and security protocols across the city, in collaboration with over 2,300 personnel of Quezon City’s Law and Order Cluster and other government agencies to provide support and assistance.
The cluster and government agencies include Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Task Force Disiplina, Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works QC, Market Development And Administration Department, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Reiterating last year’s call, Mayor Joy Belmonte said that the City will remain an open city and will welcome people and groups who wish to express their freedom of speech.
“We assure the public that the City Government is on top of this year’s President’s State of the Nation’s Address. Our Law and Order Cluster is closely coordinating with the Philippine National Police to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors during this day,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
Following the call for peaceful demonstrations, the City Government urges all demonstrators to communicate with the DPOS to secure rally permits.
Furthermore, Mayor Joy also issued Executive Order Nos. 9 and 10, which suspends all classes in public schools on Monday.
A city-wide liquor ban will also take place, starting 12:01 a.m until 6:00 p.m to mitigate any public disturbance caused by intoxication.
The TTMD will be deploying additional personnel in the City’s major thoroughfares to ensure a smooth traffic situation during the SONA.
To ensure a swift response to any emergencies that might occur, the DRRMO personnel along with Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue teams, and Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams to deliver immediate medical support and assistance.
