Ahead of the official election campaign season, the Quezon City Government reminds the public and aspiring and incumbent public officials to be responsible in putting up their political banners and tarpaulins in the City.

“Bilang mga public servant at mga nagnanais pumasok sa gobyerno, kailangan nating sumunod sa mga patakaran ng pamahalaan. Irespeto natin ang ganda ng Lungsod Quezon at iwasan natin ang pagkakalat ng ating mga political at advertising paraphernalia,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Following the City Ordinance No. SP-2021 S-2010, any political propaganda in QC must only be displayed or posted in common posting areas designated by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

The ordinance also prohibits any election materials to be posted on Meralco posts, public utilities and facilities such as street signs, traffic lights, signal posts, bridges, and overpasseses in QC.

Prohibited items include streamers, tarpaulins, tin plates, stickers, pamphlets, decals, printed notices, signboards, billboards, and other advertising paraphernalia.

Each barangay in QC will have a COMELEC-designated Poster Area. The site  should not affect any electric post, tree, and government wall or building.

Meanwhile, the COMELEC can also approve additional poster areas for public places such as plaza, markets, and barangay centers, and related sites.
