Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious illness caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that usually attacks the lungs of a person.
SYMPTOMS OF TUBERCULOSIS:
- Cough that lasts for 2 weeks
- Cough with blood
- Chest pain
- Fever
- Sweating at night
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
- Lack of appetite
HOW IT IS TRANSMITTED:
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Spitting
- Holding hands
- Lending cutlery
- Dried sweat
HOW TO AVOID TUBERCULOSIS:
- Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing and wear a face mask if sick.
- Visit the doctor for a checkup if you have a cough that lasts for 2 weeks.
- Get babies vaccinated with Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BGC) to lessen the dangers of TB.
- If you have a companion with TB at home, you can get checked at the health center for a TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) even without symptoms.
