According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, dengue is an illness caused by a virus (genus flavivirus). You can acquire it from female mosquitoes, known as Aedes aegypti. This type of mosquito usually hides in the dark areas of the house and lays eggs in well-lit, clean, and stagnant water (like the ones in a flower vase, bottle, drum, tin can, wheel, and collected rainwater).
SYMPTOMS:
- Experiencing high fever
- Sore eyes
- Body pain
- Intense headache
- Stomachache and vomiting
- Appearance of rashes
- Nosebleed
Symptoms of dengue commonly start within 2 weeks of getting bitten by a mosquito with dengue virus. Symptoms would usually last 2-7 days.
5S TO PREVENT DENGUE:
- Search and destroy
Search and eliminate possible mosquito nests. Always clean your surroundings.
- Seek early consultation
Consult the nearest health center or hospital especially if experiencing symptoms of dengue
- Self protection measures
Wear long-sleeved clothes, long socks, and pants especially if in a place with a lot of mosquitoes or with a dengue outbreak. Use mosquito repellent lotion during morning and afternoon.
- Support fogging/spraying to prevent further outbreaks
Support community initiatives when there is a threat of outbreak.
- Sustain hydration
Drink at least 2 liters of water a day, especially if you have fever.

- Pagkakaroon ng mataas na lagnat
- Pananakit ng mata
- Pananakit ng katawan
- Matinding pananakit ng ulo

- Support fogging/spraying to prevent further outbreaks
Sumuporta sa mga programa sa inyong komunidad kapag may banta ng outbreak.
