The Quezon City Police District reported a decrease in crime incidents in January to March of 2023 in the city, as a result of the efficient public order and safety interventions done by the city government and the local law enforcement agency.

The QCPD presented the number of cases of eight index crimes, (Murder, Homicide, Physical Injury, Rape, Robbery, Theft, Carnapping of motor vehicle and motorcycle) to the QC Peace and Order Council headed by Mayor Joy Belmonte along with the city law and order cluster.

In comparison, the police recorded 160 cases of the eight index crimes in January 2023, 161 cases in February, and 139 cases in March. The QCPD also reported a Crime Solution Efficiency of 93.75% in January, 93.79% in February, and 90.65% in March, an average of 92.73% for the first quarter of 2023. This shows an increase in the percentage of solved cases out of the total cases reported to QCPD.

Based on the assessment of QCPD, the decrease may be attributed to the following factors: full utilization of QCitizen Helpline 122, an enhanced emergency hotline that provides assistance to emergencies as well as complaints and feedback from its callers, the speed and efficiency of the 3-minute police response time through the Integrated Command and Control Center (IC3), continuous conduct of simulation exercises, and relentless monitoring of identified crime-prone areas in the city.

“The Quezon City Police District vows to make the city a safer place for its QCitizens and together with the local government, we will continue to strive in achieving a crime-free community. Ang inyo pong kapulisan ay maaasahan at laging handang rumesponde anumang oras,” QCPD Chief PBGen. Nicolas Torre III said.

“We commend the QCPD for its quick response that resulted in a significant decrease of crime in our city. Rest assured that the city government will continue to work hand in hand with law enforcers to ensure the safety and security of our QCitizens and the community,” Mayor Belmonte said.

The mayor encouraged QCitizens to continue reporting crime incidents to the police through the QC Helpline 122.

She also called on barangay leaders to remain vigilant and conduct patrols day and night to beef up the efforts of the QCPD.

“Sa patuloy na pagtutulungan ng ating barangay at pulisya lalo na sa pagbabantay sa matataong lugar at tuwing disoras ng gabi, mas matitiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating QCitizens,” Belmonte said.
