As a prime mover of start-up development, the Quezon City government will highlight its programs and assistance given to innovators and entrepreneurs in the Philippine Startup Week to be held from November 23-27, 2020.

Tagged as the country’s largest 5-day startup conference, the Philippine Startup Week is organized by QBO Innovation Hub, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) to highlight the Filipino entrepreneurial spirit in the “new normal”.

The Quezon City government, the only local government unit joining the online conference, will showcase innovative initiatives of the city and present possible areas of collaboration with the startup community. The city government will also seek partnerships in creating pioneering solutions that will contribute to the advancement of the city and its citizens.

The city’s initiatives will be presented by Mayor Joy Belmonte, together with City Administrator Michael Alimurung, Business Permits and Licensing Department Head Margie Santos, Small Business, Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office Head Mona Yap, Education Affairs Unit Head Aly Medalla and Public Employment and Services Office Head Rogelio Reyes.

“Quezon City is home to innovators, technology-savvy individuals, and entrepreneurs. We want Quezon City to be the birthplace of ground-breaking, trailblazing inventions, technologies, and businesses,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office Head Mona Yap shared how the city also benefits from supporting start-ups and innovations.

“Innovations and businesses are important to the advancement of any society as these solve problems and challenges faced by its citizens. More so, it also provides job opportunities for unemployed QC residents. It is a win-win solution for all,” Yap said.
