The Quezon City Government has been hailed as a Hall of Fame Awardee by the Department of Finance–Bureau of Local Government Finance (DOF-BLGF) for consistently ranking Top 1 in Locally Sourced Revenues (LSR) among all cities in the country for fiscal years 2020 to 2024.
This prestigious recognition underscores the city’s sustained excellence in fiscal management, achieved under the leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte through the collective commitment of city officials and employees to promote digitalization, transparency, and good governance.
“Nagawa po namin ito nang hindi nagtataas o nagpapataw ng dagdag na buwis sa taumbayan. Bunga ito ng tiwala at pakikiisa na nagmumula sa maayos at patas na sistema sa Quezon City Hall,” said Mayor Belmonte.
During the 38th Anniversary Celebration of the DOF-BLGF, Mayor Belmonte, together with City Treasurer Edgar Villanueva and City Assessor Atty. Sherry Gonzalvo, accepted the following awards on behalf of the city: Top 1 in Locally Sourced Revenues among Cities; Top 6 in LSR to Total Current Operating Income; and Hall of Fame Award for Outstanding Revenue Performance.
For Fiscal Year 2024 alone, the Quezon City Government recorded ₱28.8 billion in locally sourced revenues, derived from real property taxes, business taxes, other taxes, and non-tax revenues.
“This is a dream come true for everyone in the City Treasurer’s Office, and a historic first for the Quezon City Government to become a Hall of Famer. We attribute this milestone to the strong leadership and digital transformation initiatives of Mayor Joy Belmonte and City Administrator Mike Alimurung,” said City Treasurer Villanueva.
Through its commitment to innovation and good governance, Quezon City continues to set the standard for efficient local revenue generation in the Philippines.
