Quezon City, Philippines – In a bold move towards enhanced efficiency and environmental sustainability, the Quezon City Government has officially launched a centralized vehicle management system.
This initiative starts with an impressive fleet of 23 state-of-the-art hybrid vehicles and three commuter vans, designed to meet the diverse transportation needs of various government departments.
The new system is set to revolutionize how city employees travel for official duties, eliminating the necessity for individual departments to purchase their own vehicles.
These eco-friendly cars will facilitate essential activities such as business monitoring, project site inspections, meetings with barangay officials, and participation in social welfare initiatives, ensuring that the city’s workforce can respond promptly to the needs of QCitizens.
“Through the Centralized Vehicle Management system, we are dedicated to streamlining internal processes within our government offices, leading to more efficient and effective service delivery,” stated Mayor Joy Belmonte.
This initiative also reinforces the city’s commitment to advocating for a greener city.
In collaboration with Clean Air Asia, the Quezon City Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Department will meticulously monitor the environmental impact of this project, utilizing data from the city’s air monitoring systems to assess its effectiveness.
The software that powers this innovative transport management system was developed in-house, yielding significant budgetary savings that facilitated the acquisition of additional hybrid vehicles.
A successful test run was conducted in early February, allowing officials to identify and address any potential challenges in the management process.
The newly introduced hybrid vehicles, capable of seamlessly transitioning between gasoline and electric power, promise substantial savings on fuel and maintenance costs, further underscoring the city government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and environmental stewardship.
As Quezon City takes this significant step towards modernization and sustainability, the centralized vehicle management system is poised to enhance operational efficiency while contributing to a cleaner, greener future for all.
