Quezon City has been awarded the coveted Seal of Good Education Governance (SGEG) by the Synergeia Foundation, solidifying its reputation as a leader in advancing quality education in the Philippines.

The recognition, in partnership with Metro Pacific Investments, Meralco, and mWell, honors local government units (LGUs) that demonstrate visionary leadership, strong community collaboration, and impactful programs that improve learning outcomes.

As the largest schools division in the country, Quezon City caters to over 426,000 public elementary and secondary students, underscoring the city’s critical role in shaping the future of Philippine education.

The accolade reflects not only the city’s scale but its strategic commitment to inclusive and transformative governance.

Under the stewardship of Mayor Joy Belmonte, Quezon City has prioritized education as a cornerstone of progress, leveraging transparency, stakeholder engagement, and innovative policies to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities.

“This recognition highlights Quezon City’s unwavering dedication to providing every child with quality education,” Mayor Belmonte shared.

“It inspires us to continue building a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment for our students.”

The achievement also underscores the collaboration between the local government and the education sector.

Schools Division Superintendent Carleen Sedilla emphasized the collective effort that led to the honor: “This award reflects the power of partnerships among local government, educators, and communities to create meaningful change in the lives of our students.”

Echoing the sentiment, Councilor Aly Medalla, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Science, and Technology, said, “We are deeply grateful for this recognition. It is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in our education initiatives. This milestone drives us to aim even higher for our students and communities.”

The Synergeia Foundation’s Seal of Good Education Governance is a beacon for education reform, highlighting the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and sustainable leadership in shaping the nation’s future.

Quezon City’s success serves as an exemplar for other LGUs, proving that prioritizing education is not only an investment in children but a commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities.
