Quezon City Invests in Teacher Training for Stronger Literacy
More than 420 public elementary teachers participated in the Reading Model School (RMS) Teacher Training, funded by the Quezon City Government, with the support of the DepEd Schools Division Office – Quezon City, and facilitated by Chalkboard.
The training equipped teachers with evidence-based strategies and tools for teaching systematic phonics and reading comprehension in Filipino and English, aligned with grade-level standards for Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Currently piloted in 12 out of 95 elementary schools, the program is targeted for full citywide implementation in School Year 2026–2027, reflecting the city’s continued investment in teacher capacity as the foundation for stronger literacy outcomes in public schools.
