Language learning is back in session! The Quezon City Government, through the Quezon City Public Library (QCPL), is once again offering free online Basic Japanese Language Classes—welcoming new learners eager to explore Japanese language and culture from the comfort of their homes.
This initiative is part of QCPL’s ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and cross-cultural understanding, and reflects Quezon City’s broader vision to make education inclusive and accessible for all.
Tailored specifically for beginners, the course covers essential Japanese grammar, vocabulary, everyday expressions, and the basics of Hiragana and Katakana writing systems. Participants will also gain insights into Japanese customs, etiquette, and cultural practices, offering a holistic learning experience beyond language acquisition. Classes are led by experienced instructors and trained volunteers from Jellyfish Education Philippines, Inc.—QCPL’s official partner since the program’s launch in 2019.
“The QCPL’s Free Online Language Class opens doors of opportunity for every QCitizen—reminding us that in Quezon City, learning knows no limits, and progress begins with knowledge,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte.
The program is open to all learners nationwide, regardless of place of residence, as long as they are 18 years old and above, and have access to a laptop, desktop, or smartphone, a stable internet connection, and a Zoom account.
Following the successful completion of 172 graduates from the most recent batch on May 22, QCPL is now accepting registrants for the next session, which begins on June 19, 2025.
