The Quezon City Council, in partnership with the Washington Global Institute (WGI) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), had concluded the final day of the Strategic Learning Program with insightful sessions and significant events.

The program provided valuable knowledge tailored to Quezon City’s needs with the help of Oxford University and the School of Governance and Diplomacy of the College of Saint Benilde.

Day 3 began with a session on “Policy Formulation Strategies in Parliament,” led by Ms. Bethany Oliver-Dee from Baroness Cox’s Parliamentary Office. Her lecture focused on the UK Parliament’s legislative powers and governance processes.

Councilors then visited the British Parliament, observing the House of Lords and the House of Commons in action, gaining practical insights into effective policy formulation. Ms. Oliver-Dee also shared her insights on how the parliament works and conducts its business.

The day ended with a graduation and closing ceremony, with Pamela A. Grafilo from WGI as Master of Ceremonies. Keynote speakers included Dr. Tahir I. Shad of WGI, Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez from the DILG, and Quezon City Majority Floor Leader, Councilor Dorothy Delarmente.

The Strategic Learning Program has equipped Quezon City Councilors with enhanced policy formulation skills and innovative governance strategies, inspiring transformative solutions for sustainable development and resilient urban planning in Quezon City.
