The Quezon City Government is committed to implementing city initiatives, encompassing digitalization, accommodation, and activities aimed at protecting women.
QC VAW Centralized Databank System
The QC VAW Centralized Databank System of the QC Gender and Development Council (GAD) is a unified database for Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) cases reported at city hall, barangays, and VAWC desks in police stations, which primarily aims to make the reporting, tracking, and processing of gender-based violence cases in the city easier and faster.
QC Protection Center and Bahay Kanlungan
The Quezon City Government has opened the QC Protection Center– a one-stop shop that provides medical, psychological, police, and legal assistance to victims of gender-based violence and abuse to all women, children, and LGBTQ members of the city.
As part of QCPC’s comprehensive programs that further establish a multitude of critical care and services, they also launched the Bahay Kanlungan — the first local government unit (LGU)-run shelter that gives a temporary shelter for victim-survivors of gender-based violence and abuse.
The shelter has beds dedicated to women, children, and LGBT individuals, an activity area, a reading hub, a playroom, and a learning area available for kids.
Cycle to End Violence Against Women (VAW)
Through the Cycle to End Violence Against Women (VAW) program, the city government also amplifies its efforts to educate the public on the importance of protecting women’s rights by providing action and solutions to stop all kinds of gender-based violence.
Under the program, a bike ride event is held, where they also distribute bikes to women participants, including mothers and victims of violence and abuse.
