The Quezon City Government has recorded zero casualties and a significant drop in the number of fireworks-related injuries during the holiday season festivities.
Based on the reports of all hospitals in QC, as collated by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Division (QCESD) of the Quezon City Health Department, there were 40 fireworks-related injuries in the city from December 21, 2025 to January 2, 2026. This represents a 62 percent decrease compared to the 107 reported cases during the same period last year.
Twenty-nine (29) of the total cases were individuals who were associated with passive involvement in fireworks use (injured by fireworks), while 11 were actively involved or held fireworks directly.
Most injuries occurred in the street (27 cases), 11 happened within their homes, and two (2 cases) took place in other locations.
Furthermore, there have been no reported cases of firework ingestion or stray-bullet injuries.
“Bagamat may iilan pa ring QCitizen ang nagtamo ng injury dahil sa paputok, itinuturing pa rin nating matagumpay ang ating kampanya at mga hakbang laban sa paggamit ng paputok. Patunay ito na kaya nating magsaya at salubungin ang bagong taon nang ligtas at mapayapa,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
The city government also emphasized that the data serves as a testament to the success of the city’s efforts to centralize New Year celebrations and firework displays.
New year countdown events were held simultaneously at Quezon Memorial Circle, Novaliches Park and Eastwood, which were attended by thousands of QCitizens.
Apart from QMC, Eastwood and Novaliches, there were also fireworks-designated areas in barangays to ensure community safety.
