In a bid to provide proper compensation to medical professionals who will volunteer to help augment Quezon City’s medical workforce and inoculate the city’s residents, Mayor Joy Belmonte has signed an ordinance granting these volunteers a daily allowance of up to P2,500.

“It is only right and just that we give them a daily allowance so they won’t be spending their personal funds for transportation and food, for example,” said Belmonte.

“Malaking tulong na ang serbisyong binibigay nila sa ating lungsod lalo na’t kulang tayo sa mga medical staff gaya ng mga doktor at nars na kwalipikadong magbakuna,” she added.

Under Ordinance No. SP-3024 s., 2021 or “An Ordinance Granting Daily Allowance to the COVID-19 Vaccination Volunteer Medical Staff”, the city government will pay for food, transportation, and other necessities of the volunteer medical staff serving at any of the city’s COVID-19 vaccination sites.

Starting June 1, anyone who will sign up as a volunteer will be remunerated per day based on the following categories: P2,500 for medical doctors, P1,400 for dentists and nurses, P1,300 for post-graduate interns, P1,000 for other allied medical professionals, and P800 for midwives.

The ordinance was introduced by Councilors Franz Pumaren, Eric Medina, Jun Ferrer, Donny Matias, and Lala Sotto-Antonio.
