Need to Know: During the Liberation Period, Barangay Escopa was a barrio named Lata. This was changed into ISCOPA, meaning 1st Signal Corps of the Philippine Army, before finally becoming “Escopa”.

During the Martial Law, Barrio Escopa was divided into four barangays, for equal representation in the City Government.
Barangay Captain Manuel Liporada was appointed as Barangay Captain in 1972 by Mayor Norberto Amoranto. The council members included Francisco Encelam, Minerva Aniceto, Benjamin Fuentes, Adriano Reyes, Inocencio delos Trinos and Reynaldo Ilagan.
