Historically, Paltok has always been known as a high place. After World War II, Paltok was known as a sitio or Purok of Nayon San Francisco del Monte. During the Liberation only one road was available in Paltok; the alternatives were pathways of carabaos.
From 1946 to 1958 Paltok began to develop. The road were being improved and many lot owner began to construct their residence. In 1960, under R.A. No. 2370, the first election of the barrio council of Paltok was held. On March 1961. Paltok was created into a legal barrio by virtue of an Ord. No. 61-4705 ordained by the council of Quezon City.
Barangay Paltok had been chosen as a model barangay in the aspect of Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign, and selected by the DILG and the University of the Philippines College of Public Administration as a center and implementor of the Maximum Basic Needs (MBN).
