Description

The City Prosecutor is the investigation arm of the Quezon City Government on all cases committed within its jurisdiction conducted through inquest and preliminary proceedings; functions as one the pillars of the criminal justice system; conducts the prosecution of cases filed with the courts ensuring that justice is served contributing to the enhancement of public safety and security and assists the Office of the Solicitor General and Office of the Ombudsman and other government agencies on specified cases for investigation or prosecution.

RECEIVING AND PROCESSING OF CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS FOR PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION

A preliminary investigation is a process to determine if there are sufficient grounds to establish a well-founded belief that a crime has been committed. It also aims to assess whether the respondent is likely guilty and should be held accountable.

RECEIVING AND PROCESSING OF CRIMINAL COMPLAINTS FOR INQUEST PROCEEDING

An inquest proceeding is an informal and summary investigation conducted by a public prosecutor in criminal cases involving individuals who are arrested and detained without a court-issued warrant of arrest. Its purpose is to determine whether these individuals should remain in custody and be formally charged in court.

PROVISION OF PROSECUTOR’S CLEARANCE AND/ OR CERTIFICATION

A Prosecutor’s Clearance is a document issued to an individual for purposes of local or foreign employment, travel,  firearm license, permit to carry firearms, retirement and various reasons. This assures that an individual does not have a pending case.

PROVISION OF PROSECUTOR’S CERTIFICATION OF CASES STATUS AND CERTIFIED COPY OF DOCUMENTS

This service is available to parties directly involved in a case, such as legal counsel, respondents, or complainants, who seek to obtain certified true copies (CTCs) of documents for legal purposes, including appeals or elevating the case to a higher court. In compliance with RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act, certified copies of documents and case status certifications can only be issued to authorized individuals involved in the case or to government agencies directly concerned with the matter.
