Under the Quezon City Government’s Grow QC program, the local government has repurposed urbas spaces to establish community model farms for food production. This encourages the use and transformation of idle and open spaces into green and edible spaces within the city.
Together with providing lands for cultivation, the government has also distributed seedlings and tools so they can be self-sufficient.
The women of Botocan have accepted the call and have established their own food forest farm. They have planted several vegetables and are now serving fresh produce to their family.
Ths program has also allowed them to fight the food crises brought about by the pandemic. And by working together, they are now more confident to face the challenges facing their community and country.
