The Quezon City Government has established its official film festival through the QCinema International Film Festival (QCinema), which showcases films and talents of filmmakers from the country and neighboring countries in Asia.
The annual film festival serves as the lens through which the general public gets to appreciate the active role of Quezon City in Philippine filmmaking; from its pioneering years in the 50’s, down to the present, and on to the future.
Established in 2013, QCinema features a broad spectrum of local and international films of all genres. It also provides a chance to catch the most critically lauded and internationally awarded movies of the year, as well as storied classics from the vast history of cinema.
Throughout its existence, QCinema has supported the production of new films through substantial grants from the Quezon City Film Commission (QCFC). This tradition of support continues through the QCinema Project Market, an industry initiative that aims to bolster not just the local film scene but Asian cinema as a whole, turning Quezon City into a hub for regional film business.
For over a decade, 330 films have been aired at the film festival. In 2024, a record of 74 films was made, the highest since 2019.
